Our first ever feature on a Magazine, ( Altyra Studio in Buzz Magazine)
Introduction
Can you introduce the founders and the brand to our readers?
![]()
Altyra Studio is a contemporary clothing brand focused on casual, unbranded wardrobe capsules. It is a minimalist movement built around pieces that we, as founders, would genuinely enjoy wearing. Most of what you see in our collections comes from decisions we make together.
In a growing streetwear market, we wanted to create clothing that did not rely on loud branding. Instead, we focus on silhouettes, structure, fit, proportion, craftsmanship, and quality. Our branding is subtle and often limited to thoughtfully designed garment tags.
Altyra Studio began when two old-school friends, Ryan and Rohan, reconnected after years apart. Conversations about music, clothing, lifestyle, and how we wanted our wardrobes to feel eventually turned into something real.
Our partnership is unique because we live in two different countries and work across different time zones. Although coordinating can be difficult, everything you see from Altyra Studio is created through close collaboration between us.
The brand was built around a lifestyle we both value: thoughtful architecture, moving with confidence, quality over mass production, personal music, and finding balance between a busy life and quieter moments.
My name is Ryan. I am a 27-year-old fashion enthusiast based in Melbourne. I currently work full-time across hospitality and retail while managing Altyra Studio’s marketing, creative direction, and administration.
While living in Sydney, I enjoyed wearing clothing that felt personal to me and exploring different food venues with my girlfriend. This became a weekly ritual and deepened my appreciation for both hospitality and fashion. That experience now influences how we want our customers to feel: welcomed, understood, and part of a curated shopping experience.
My name is Rohan Lal Shrestha, I'm 26 years old and based in Kathmandu. I currently work alongside my father in our family business while also running Altyra Studio, where I look after the production and the day-to-day operations.
I've always been interested in fashion and how the right clothes can make someone feel more confident. Outside of work, I enjoy playing football and basketball, trying new restaurants, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family.
Altyra Studio reflects a lot of what I like simple design, quality, and pieces that are easy to wear. At the end of the day, I just want people to feel comfortable and confident whenever they put on one of our pieces.
About the Brand
1. Take us back to the beginning. What was happening in your life when the idea for Altyra Studio first took shape?
Rohan
Honestly, at the time, I was just working with my dad, and starting a clothing brand was not even on my mind. Then Ryan came to me with the idea for Altyra Studio.
I remember being quite skeptical. I did not know whether it was something we should actually pursue or whether it would even work.
Ryan
At the time, I was working as a sales manager for a retail store in Sydney, Australia. I had always wanted a creative outlet and had plans to start my own clothing line.
After reconnecting with Rohan, we started talking about Nepal, our school days, clothing, and different ideas. I realised that many of our values and the way we presented ourselves were similar, so I brought him the idea of starting the brand together.
I felt optimistic because the vision felt right. I also think we make good business partners because we balance each other out.
2. Walk us through how Drop One came together. What did that process actually look like day to day?

Rohan
Drop One came together quite naturally. We spent a lot of time talking about what we wanted to create.
We had a few pieces in mind from the beginning, and we would sit together, share ideas, and decide what genuinely felt right for the brand. We reviewed designs, made changes, waited for samples, and then made more changes.
Sometimes, we thought something was perfect, but once we saw it in person, we decided to start again.
Ryan
Our first drop came together naturally, just as Rohan said. We knew what we wanted to make, not based heavily on trends, but around clothing we would genuinely wear ourselves.
Rohan has a hidden talent for selecting fabrics. When I visited Nepal and saw the collection in person, I was genuinely happy with what we had created.
Our first drop included subtle adjustments to familiar garments like tee shirts, denims and formal pants. Although the pieces were simple, we wanted them to feel personal and style-focused.
Many of the smaller details, including the garment tags, graphics, packaging, and thank-you cards, were also developed during this time.
For our first campaign, the models were Rohan, me, Rohan’s cousin, and my girlfriend. That is what you do when your start-up does not have a large budget haha—you work with what you have. The best part is the content turned out exactly how we wanted it to.
3. “Clarity, intention, and effortless style” is how you describe Altyra Studio. How do you translate that philosophy into an actual garment?

Ryan
Altyra Studio is our creative outlet, but we both continue to work regular jobs and live busy lives. Because of that, we understand the importance of clothing that feels effortless, looks considered, and can move with you throughout the day.
For us, an efficient wardrobe is one where different pieces can be mixed together and still make sense. It should allow you to work, move through the city, meet someone you care about, or enjoy a quiet evening without needing to completely change how you are dressed.
Our garments are not designed to act like billboards or tell the wearer who they should be. The branding is subtle, allowing the silhouette, fabric, structure, and person wearing the garment to speak for themselves. We want people to have the freedom to layer our pieces, style them differently, and make them feel personal.
That philosophy also shapes how we approach craftsmanship and quality. We create smaller collections, spend longer refining samples, and pay attention to the details that affect how a garment fits, feels, and ages. We would rather take our time creating something intentional than rush a product simply to follow a trend.
4. With warmer months ahead, what does a summer wardrobe look like through the Altyra Studio lens?
![]()
This summer, we stepped outside our usual approach. We normally work with monochromatic and darker shades, but this season, we experimented with brighter Pantones and combined different colours within the same garment.
The collection is designed for easy summer living. These are outfits you can wear while having a barbecue with friends, working quietly at your favourite café, or meeting your closest friends on a warm afternoon.
We worked with natural and breathable fabrics, including cotton, cotton twill, linen, and polo fabrics.
Around half of the collection leans towards relaxed everyday wear, including ringer tees, barrel pants, and cotton-twill shorts. The other half offers our interpretation of more refined summer pieces, including linen shorts, cropped polo shirts, and short-sleeve Henleys.
5. How do you want someone to feel the first time they wear an Altyra Studio piece?
Rohan
I want them to feel comfortable and confident. I want them to put it on and feel good about themselves without having to think too much about it.
If someone feels confident wearing our clothing, then we have done our job.
Ryan
Agreed.
6. What is a moment since launching that made all the late nights worth it?
Rohan
The best moments are when we receive positive reviews from our customers. Knowing that people enjoy our products makes the hard work worthwhile.
Another moment I will always remember was seeing someone wearing an Altyra Studio piece while I was out walking. Seeing someone wear something we created was an amazing feeling.
Ryan
One of the best moments for me was receiving an order from Australia a few weeks ago. The customer’s order had been delayed, so I decided to deliver it personally.
I recognised his name from an order he placed during our first few months. Since then, he had purchased several more pieces from us.
When I met him, he told me how much he enjoyed the clothing. We spoke about his life and what he does, and it became a genuinely meaningful experience.
I remember driving home and thinking, “This is it.” That moment motivated me to continue improving the brand.
A Letter to Our Readers
What you see here was created by two people who honestly had no idea what they were doing when they began.
We simply applied the skills and experience we had gained through our existing work and brought everything we knew to the table. What mattered most was that we started, despite working regular jobs, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
We are young entrepreneurs, and we hope our story motivates you to begin something you have been thinking about. It truly is just about starting and being open to meeting new ideas and people.
Consume less. Create more.
Altyra Studio is also a collaborative project made possible by many talented people in Nepal. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed, both directly and indirectly.
What began as a way to create and distribute clothing has grown into a community: a community of creatives, people who share an appreciation for thoughtful clothing, music and architecture lovers, and customers whose honest feedback continues to shape the brand.
Without this community, we would not be where we are today.
